NDA sponsored dawn-to-dusk Bihar bandh begins
Tuesday, December 9 2003 10:15 Hrs (IST)

Patna: The dawn-to-dusk state-wide bandh called by the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) to protest against what it described as illegal and unconstitutional removal of D P Ojha from the post of Director General of Police, began this morning (Dec 9, 2003) amid tight security.

Official sources said the bandh was reported to be peaceful so far.

Shops and major business establishments downed their shutters and vehicular traffic was thin. Schools too were closed.

Security measures have been tightened across the state during the bandh.

Essential services like medicine shops, hospitals, nursing homes, water and electricity supply have been exempted from the purview of the bandh, NDA State convenor Nand Kishore Yadav said.
