Assam bomb blast: Death toll rises to three

Guwahati: Death toll in the Tinsukia bomb blast mounted to three, with one person succumbing to his injuries today (Dec 9, 2003), police said.

Suspected ULFA (United Liberation Front of Assam) militants exploded a time-device near a hardware shop at Makum in upper Assam's Tinsukia district last evening killing two and injuring seven.

Five of the injured had been admitted to Assam Medical College Hospital in serious condition while the other to Tinsukia civil hospital.

The deceased were identified as owner of the shop Mulchand Kanoi, his son Mahabir and a customer Imran Shah.

Security in the district has been further tightened in view of the recent violence against Biharis accounting for 29 of the 56 deaths.
