Wednesday, December 10 2003 20:13 Hrs (IST)

Moscow: Ukranian police have arrested 20 illegal immigrants, including eight Indians and 11 Pakistanis, who were en route to Europe.

The immigrants, who had illegally entered Ukraine on foot from Russia, had paid $ 6,000 to $ 8,000 dollars each in their respective countries for migrating to Europe, ITAR-TASS reported.

Earlier last week, the Russian border guards had detained 44 Indians and their two Russian guides in the wooded Bryansk region for attempting illegal entry into neighbouring Ukraine.

Another group of Indian illegal immigrants are facing deportation on court orders in south Russian Rostov-on-Don region for trying to cross into Ukraine.
