Chinese Army Dy Chief visits Eastern Command Hqrs

Kolkata: General Wu Quanxu, Deputy Chief of General Staff of the People's Liberation Army (PLA),
China, today (Dec 10, 2003) visited the Eastern Command Headquarters at Fort William, along with
seven other officers.
Describing the PLA's visit to the Fort William as 'another milestone' in the growing ties between the two
nations, a Defence press release in Kolkata said such visits by political and military leaders of the two
sides in recent times had contributed immensely to the overall development and bilateral relations.
Such visits would further lead to positive and progressive co-operation between the two countries, it
added.
GOC-in-C, Eastern Command, Lt Gen J S Verma, representing Indian Army, exchanged views with the
PLA delegation pertaining to the speedy development of relations with China within the time frame of the
ancient close ties of the two countries.
