Train derails in Bihar; close shave for passengers
Wednesday, December 10 2003 12:56 Hrs (IST)

Patna: Travellers in Narkatiaganj-Darbhanga passenger train had a miraculous escape when its engine and four bogies derailed near Jaimurty Halt between Ghodasahan and Chauradano stations in Bihar's East Champaran district early today (Dec 10, 2003).

Sabotage was not ruled out as the authorities detected that some fish-plates were removed and fresh pieces of rail were found lying at the derailment site, Railway sources said.

None was seriously injured in the derailment as the train was moving at a very slow speed at the time.

Following the derailment, traffic on Narkatiaganj-Raxual-Darbhanga section of the East Central Railway has been disrupted.

Restoration work would take the whole day and trains from Darbhanga to Narkatiaganj and Gorakhpur were being diverted through Muzaffarpur station, the sources added.
