Militancy continues despite ceasefire: JK Governor
Wednesday, December 10 2003 16:59 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Governor S K Sinha today (Dec 10, 2003) said militant activities
continued unabated in the state notwithstanding the ceasefire along the frontiers with Pakistan.
"Only yesterday killings have taken place. The insurgency goes on unabated and there is no respite
whatsoever," Sinha told reporters at a function organised in New Delhi by the National Cadet Corps
(NCC).
Lamenting the miserable living conditions of displaced Kashmiri Pandits, Sinha said, "even though the
proper rehabilitation of the Pandits can happen only when cross border terrorism stops, a lot can be
done to ameliorate their living conditions."
"I had visited the Kashmiri Pandits living in camps in the Krishna Market area of Delhi and was
anguished to see the inhuman way of life they have been forced to live in," he said, adding these
Pandits must not be called migrants, as they were "refugees" in their own country.
