Srinagar: Two top militants belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Harkat-ul-Jehadi-Islami (HUJI)
outfits were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Baramulla district of Kashmir, official sources said
today (Dec 10, 2003).
Self-styled District Commander of JeM Tipu Vikas and HUJI "District Chief" Shahid Vhai alias Abu Amir,
both residents of Karachi, were killed in the encounter, which ensued when a joint search party of police
and Army raided Panar forest in Bandipora last night, they said.
The sources said the raid was conducted on a tip-off about a meeting of "senior commanders" of the two
outfits to chalk out a strategy to intensify their activities, particularly joint actions against security forces
and civilian targets, the sources said.
PAK assault rifles, nine magazines, 150 rounds and a wireless set were recovered from the spot.
