Udupi (Karnataka): VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) International President Ashok Singhal today (Dec 12,
2003) told sants and swamijis to pressurise the Government to hand over the Ram Janmabhoomi land in
Ayodhya to Hindus before the Lok Sabha polls to build the temple there.
In his address to sants, heads of mutts and swamijis at a three-day conference in Udupi, he said they
should also take a collective decision that the next government to be formed at the Centre should be
based on the "Hindutva agenda".
He charged that the appeasement of minorities by political parties as vote bank had delayed solution to
the Ayodhya issue.
Alleging that "pseudo secularism" in the country had discriminated against and insulted the Hindus, he
said "unabated support" to "Islamic Jehadi" still continued and spread to several parts of the country.
He claimed that the "awakening" among Hindus that had been created in Gujarat had seriously
discouraged carrying out of any further Jehadi there for the next 25 years.
The sants and heads of mutts who spoke said there was an urgent need for unity among the Hindus with
a new awakening to face the threats from both within and outside the Hindu society.
All religious heads of Hindu society should come out of their spiritual area of functioning to guide the
society for eradication of social stigmas like untouchability, social disparity and poverty which were the
root cause of growing frustration among the youths that led to conversion and their joining hands
with "destabilising forces", they said.
