Consult us before talking to India: JuM to Hurriyat
Saturday, December 13 2003 18:54 Hrs (IST)

Srinagar: Pro-Pakistan militant outfits Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen (JuM) and Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) today (Dec 13, 2003) asked the Hurriyat Conference leaders not to enter into a dialogue with New Delhi without consulting them.

While flaying Hurriyat leadership, JuM commander-in-chief General Abdullah said their contribution towards the Kashmir issue was nothing.

"They should desist from entering into a dialogue with India without consulting militants, as they are not representatives of Kashmiris," his statement said.

He asked former chairmen Abdul Gani Bhat and Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and another Hurriyat leader Bilal Lone to immediately return and explain their position as otherwise they should bear in mind the fate meted out to leaders like Jamshed Shirazi alias Kuka Parey and Javed Hussain Shah.

The two were former militants and had joined political parties in the State before being gunned down by militants in August and September this year.

Terming the Hurriyat members as "mohalla leaders", DeM chief Ayisa Andrabi, wanted by police in connection with funding of militancy in the State, said they (Hurriyat) should bear in mind that if they talk to New Delhi, it would enlist them in the list of traitors.

She said the militants were actual representatives of Kashmiris and not the Hurriyat led by Abbas Ansari. Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umer was recovering in the hospital at the national capital after undergoing a minor throat operation to remove pus.
