New Delhi: In his first visit to the capital after the dissolution of the Andhra Assembly, Chief Minister N
Chandrababu Naidu today (Dec 15, 2003) met Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and top Bharatiya
Janata Party (BJP) leaders and said he was not averse to simultaneous polls to Lok Sabha but left it to
the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leadership to take a decision.
Besides having talks with Vajpayee, the Chief Minister also met Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and
had a luncheon meeting with BJP president M Venkiah Naidu.
"Neither Lok Sabha elections nor seat-sharing was discussed at this forum," he said after his parleys
with BJP leaders.
"My party is for holding of Assembly elections latest by March 17 as school examinations are slated to
be held after that date," he said after a one-to-one meeting with the Prime Minister lasting almost 25
minutes.
Asked whether the issue of simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and Assembly elections figured at the
meetings, he said it did not figure at these meetings and on his luncheon talks with BJP leaders. "It was
an informal interaction with no specific agenda or purpose. This is not the forum for discussing Lok
Sabha election or seat-sharing."
