Gaya: A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team arrived in Gaya today (Dec 16, 2003) to begin the
probe into the murder of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) engineer Satyendra Kumar Dubey.
The five-member CBI team led by deputy superintendent T S Mann, which arrived here from Delhi this
morning, inspected the scene of the murder, official sources said.
The team met Gaya police superintendent Sanjay Singh to inquire about the circumstances of the killing
and obtained the original copy of the first information report (FIR) registered by the district police.
Dubey, the project manager of NHAI at Gaya, was killed on November 27 by some unidentified
assailants near the circuit house in Gaya, triggering a blame game between the Bihar Government and
the Centre.
While Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Laloo Prasad Yadav alleged that Dubey was killed as the
letter he had written to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee exposing the loot of public fund in the
execution of the Golden Quadrilateral Project requesting that his identity be kept secret was leaked, the
Union Ministry of Surface Transport and Highways contended that the murder was the result of poor law
and order in the State.
