New Delhi: Rejecting the charge of double standards and making a distinction between Jogi and Judeo
tape cases, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today (Dec 16, 2003) told the Rajya Sabha that nothing
has come out of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the episode involving Bharatiya
Janata Party (BJP) leader Dilip Singh Judeo.
"The probe is on. The VCD is not clear and on the basis of it, it is difficult to make a case. I am not
hiding anything nor am I trying to mix anything. We have to wait for the outcome of the probe," he said
referring to the tape in which Judeo, former Union Minister, was purportedly seen receiving
money.
The Prime Minister was replying to a debate on the tapes controversy during which the Opposition had
accused the CBI of acting in a partisan way. Vajpayee also dismissed the allegation that Deputy Prime
Minster L K Advani had stage-managed the Jogi episode.
Vajpayee said the Judeo VCD has been sent for forensic examination to establish its authenticity and
the report is expected soon.
The identity of one Rahul being named in the VCD has not been established and Judeo and his former
aide Rateria have appeared before the CBI twice but nothing has come out which could lead to lodging
of an FIR (first information report), he said.
In the case involving former Chhattisgarh Chief Minster Ajit Jogi, Vajpayee said an FIR has been lodged
by BJP leader Virendra Pandey and that the Rs 45 lakhs received by him for allegedly splitting the party
and Jogi's letter to the Governor stood part of the investigation records.
