Karnataka grants permission for 3 new eng colleges

Bangalore: The Karnataka Government had issued No-Objection Certificates (NOC) for starting three new engineering colleges in the private sector, Minister for Higher Education and Information, G Parameshwara, said today (Dec 17,2003).

Permission had been given to institutions to start two colleges in Bangalore and one in Udupi, he told reporters in Bangalore.

The Government recently granted permission to set up three new engineering colleges in the state.

Parameshwara said that the Government, in line with its decision to revoke the 1987 ban on opening new B.Ed colleges, was expected to take a final decision in about three days on permitting new colleges.

Universities had recommended the application of 369 institutions, he added.
