US national arrested in Delhi’s IGI airport

New Delhi: An American national was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in New
Delhi after recovery of some antique arms and ammunition from his baggage.
The US citizen identified as Grader Charles Raymond had come to New Delhi by Afghan airliner 'Ariana
Air' last night (Dec 17, 2003) and was on his way to Frankfurt when security personnel at the airport
found four antique muzzle rifles and four one-foot long pistols in his baggage, deputy commissioner of
police (DCP), IGI Airport, Devesh Shrivastav told reporters.
Shrivastav said the 40-year old Raymond was arrested last night under the Arms Act and was
immediately questioned by police and other intelligence agencies.
The US Embassy had been informed about the arrest.
Raymond will be produced before a local court later in the day, he said.
