Talks on resumption of Samjhauta Express begin

New Delhi: Officials of India and Pakistan today (Dec 18, 2003) held talks in New Delhi on resumption of the Samjhauta Express between the two countries.

At the two-day parleys, a four-member Pakistani delegation is led by Mohammad Iqbal Khatri, additional general manager of Pakistan Railways.

The Indian side is led by S B Ghosh Dastidar, additional member (traffic) in the Railway Ministry.

Minutes of the talks on the resumption of the train would be signed on December 20, official sources said.

Samjhauta Express between Attari in India and Lahore in Pakistan was terminated on January 1, 2002 following the terrorist attack on Parliament on December 13, 2001.
