Thursday, December 18 2003 18:25 Hrs (IST)

Guwahati: United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) militants today (Dec 18, 2003) attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp with grenade in upper Assam's Sivasagar district, police said.

A group of ULFA militants lobbed a grenade at a CRPF camp in Maibala area injuring a jawan.

CRPF personnel retaliated and a heavy encounter followed but details are awaited.

Senior civil and police officials rushed to the spot.

The attack assumed significance in the wake of operations by Bhutan Royal Army (RBA) against ULFA and other militants in their country.
