Uma Bharti, Vasundhara Raje resign from LS

New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje have resigned from Lok Sabha following their election to the respective State Assemblies.

"I have accepted their resignations from December 18, 2003," Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi announced in the House today (Dec 19, 2003).

While Raje, who was elected from Rajasthan's Jhalawar Lok Sabha constituency, sent her letter to the Speaker on December 15, Bharti, who was elected from Bhopal, communicated her decision yesterday.
