Stamp scam: Cops seek K'taka Minister's brother

Bangalore: The Special Investigation Team (STAMPIT) in Karnataka has launched a manhunt to arrest
Rehman Baig, brother of Karnataka SSI (Small Scale Industries) Minister Roshan Baig, for his alleged
links with prime accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam, Abdul Karim Telgi, a top STAMPIT
official said.
"We are looking for him", R Sri Kumar, who is heading the STAMPIT, told reporters in Bangalore tonight
(Dec 19, 2003). He said a Bangalore Court has issued a warrant against Rehman Baig based on
the "investigation records" of STAMPIT.
Sri Kumar noted that the passport of Rehman Baig had been seized sometime ago.
Asked if Rehman Baig is absconding, he said, "He is (currently) not available".
Meanwhile, Sri Kumar said one more person, Fayaz Ahmed, an associate of Telgi, was arrested in
Bangalore today. Ahmed, a resident of Tumkur, was absconding since 2000. He has been remanded to
police custody till December 24.
