Madan Lal Khurana to be new Rajasthan Governor
Monday, December 22 2003 12:25 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana is being appointed Governor of Rajasthan.

This came out in the Lok Sabha when Speaker Manohar Joshi congratulated him on his new assignment. However, an official announcement regarding this is yet to be made.

"I would like to congratulate Khurana as Governor of Rajasthan," said Joshi.

As the BJP leader entered the House, the Speaker remarked, "How can a Governor come to the House?"

Soon after Khurana took a seat next to his party colleague Dhananjay Kumar, the Speaker congratulated him, followed by members.

E Ahamed (Indian Union Muslim League) quipped, "Can we MPs stay in Raj Bhavan when we come to Rajasthan?"

Khurana gave a broad smile while accepting the greetings.
