Telgi names K'taka politicians, police officers
Monday, December 22 2003 20:16 Hrs (IST)

Bangalore: Prime accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam, Abdul Karim Telgi, mentioned at least two prominent Karnataka politicians and some senior police officers of the State for their alleged complicity in the racket during the narco-analysis test conducted today (Dec 22, 2003), highly placed sources said on condition of anonymity.

However, the sources refused to disclose the names of the politicians.

Telgi gave out the two names when he was subjected to the test at Victoria hospital in the presence of top Forensic Science Laboratory scientists in Bangalore and sleuths of Maharashtra's Special Investigation Team (SIT), sources said.

However, when asked, "how much money he has paid to these two", Telgi side-stepped the question saying "it's personal". The kingpin also revealed alleged complicity of some senior police officials of Karnataka, sources said.

However, he categorically said during the test that lower-rung police personnel had no hand in the racket.

Telgi has undergone lie-detector and related tests for three days from Friday on a directive from the Bombay High Court.
