Court allows Sanjay, 7 other accused to leave city Tuesday, December 23 2003 18:05 Hrs (IST) Mumbai:
A special court today (Dec 23, 2003) permitted eight accused in the 1993 bomb blast case, including film actor Sanjay Dutt, to leave city limits during Christmas vacations from tomorrow till January 5.
The permission was granted on certain conditions by designated Judge P D Kode after Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said it had no objection to plea of accused to go outside the city limits. The court ordered them to appear before the court without fail on January 5.
On a plea made by defence lawyer Farhana Shah, Sanjay was permitted to visit Hrisikesh for two days from December 25 to visit temples and from there to Delhi on December 27 to attend the premiere of film 'LOC-Kargil'.
On December 28, he is scheduled to leave for Jaipur to the film's premiere. On December 29, the actor would return to Mumbai and leave for Goa on a holiday on the same day till January 1.
Other accused allowed to leave the city limits are Raju Jain, Samir Hingora, Mulchand Shah, Rusi Mulla, Mujeeb Parkar, Mohammed Ahmed Mansoor and Noor Khan.
Jain and Hingora would go to Mahableshwar with his family, Shah is slated to visit temples in Indore while Mulla has sought permission to visit temples in Udwada.
Parkar was permitted to visit his native place Sandheri in Raigad district while Noor Khan and Mohammed Ahmed Mansoor allowed to go to Ajmer and New Delhi respectively to visit religious places.
The court warned the accused to restrain from establishing contact with the absconding accused and not to misuse liberty.
