I am a fighter; I'll continue to fight: Bhujbal Wednesday, December 24 2003 15:15 Hrs (IST) Mumbai:
A day after he tendered his resignation as Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, feisty Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal, under attack in connection with the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam, today (Dec 24, 2003) said he would continue to fight against the Opposition campaign.
"I am known as a fighter. I will not quit the battle ground and continue my fight," was all Bhujbal said when his attention was drawn to his recent statement that he would not quit in the wake of oppositions allegations against him in connection with the fake stamp-paper racket.
The former Deputy Chief Minster told reporters in Mumbai that he put in his papers only because of the attack by NCP activists on the office of Alpha Marathi channel, a sister concern of Zee Tele films.
"Media played a vital role in propagating to people my fight against injustice. So if media was victimised because of me, then as a Home Minister I must take penance for it. That is the reason for my resignation," the NCP leader clarified.
To a query, Bhujbal said, he would continue to work relentlessly as the NCP leader and would be attending the party's two-day brainstorming session beginning in Mumbai in the afternoon.
Asked about possibility of organisational post coming his way, Bhujbal said declined to comment on it and said, "I am a member of the Upper House of the State Legislature and can deliver as an MLC also."
