NDA alliance: MDMK to decide on December 29

Vellore (Tamilnadu): Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), one of the constituents of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Centre, today (Dec 24, 2003) decided to convene a meeting of district secretaries in Chennai on Dec.29, to take a decision on remaining with the NDA or not.

This was disclosed to reporters by the party's presidium Chairman, L Ganesan, after he and other top leaders of the party called on party general secretary, Vaiko, MP, now in Vellore jail for over a year suffering imprisonment as a POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) detenue.

Besides Ganesan, those who called on Vaiko were the two MDMK Ministers in the Union Cabinet, M Kannappan and Gingee Ramachandran.

The meeting with Vaiko lasted little over an hour.
