| | PM cancels Rajasthan visit due to foggy weather Friday, December 26 2003 11:34 Hrs (IST) New Delhi:
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today (Dec 26, 2003) cancelled his sojourn in Rajasthan due to foggy weather conditions in the North and to prepare for the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) summit.
The entire issue relating to his holiday was reviewed this morning and a decision was taken to cancel the trip, PMO (Prime Minister's Office) sources said.
Vajpayee was initially scheduled to leave for Jaipur yesterday evening and return to Delhi on December 28.
But his entire programme got upset after the Indian Air Force (IAF) Boeing 737 carrying him from Lucknow to Delhi was forced to land in Jaipur due to a thick blanket of fog engulfing Delhi Airport on December 24th.
Vajpayee had to return to the capital from the Pink City after a nearly six-hour long road journey for his birthday celebrations yesterday.
The sources said that besides the foggy weather conditions prevailing in the northern parts of the country, the Prime Minister also had to make preparations for SAARC Summit in Islamabad early next month (January, 2003).
