VHP to launch mass mobilisation for temple construction Friday, December 26 2003 19:09 Hrs (IST) Ayodhya:
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today (Dec 26, 2003) announced it would launch a mass mobilisation programme across the country for the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya.
Details of the campaign would be worked out at the meeting of the 'Sri Ram Mandir Punaruddhar Samiti' being held at Karsevakpuram in Ayodhya, VHP General Secretary Praveen Togadia told reporters.
VHP's All India Board of Trustees at its meeting in Hyderabad on January 15 would finalise the programme, he said.
Replying to a question, Togadia said the decision to launch the mass mobilisation programme was not taken with an eye on the next Lok Sabha elections.
"Poll dates are yet to be announced. The decision to launch the mass movement was taken at the meeting of VHP's 'Dharam Sansad' at the 'Maha Kumbh Mela' in Allahabad in January, 2001," he said.
As a sequel to the Dharam Sansad's decision, a 'Sankalp Sammelan' was held at Ayodhya on October 17 2003, in which about three lakh 'Rambhakts' took pledge to take part in the next phase of the temple movement, he said.
Asked about the efforts of Ayodhya Jama Masjid Trust President S A Rizvi to solve the Temple-Mosque dispute, Togadia said, "I don't know him".
