'Brahmaputra Mail' derails in WB; passengers safe

Malda (WB): The Engine and six coaches of Delhi bound 'Brahmaputra Mail' derailed near the old Malda railway station in West Bengal's Malda district early this morning (Dec 27, 2003), according to railway sources.

The sources told reporters that as the train was moving at a slow speed, there was no report of any casualty or injury to any passengers.

A medical team of the railways has rushed to the spot but there was no report of any passenger injured in the incident, Superintendent of Malda Railway Hospital, S Ghoshal said.

Some of the passengers of the train told reporters that the train was moving at a slow speed when suddenly there was a jerk and then some of the coaches got derailed.
