Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today (Dec 28, 2003) demanded that the Centre immediately release POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) detenu and Uttar Pradesh legislator Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya.

"We have already written to the Centre to release Raja Bhaiya forthwith. To keep him in jail even for a day will be an injustice," Yadav told reporters.

He said the Supreme Court had already ruled that only the Centre could take any decision with regard to the State Government's stand on release of any POTA detenu.

"It is now up to the Centre to decide upon our request. We have already recommended Raja Bhaiya's release," he said.
