Seven coaches of Kamrup Express derail; no injuries Monday, December 29 2003 09:57 Hrs (IST) Guwahati:
Seven bogies of Kamrup Express jumped the rails between Dharamtul and Azuri stations in Central Assam's Nagaon district at around 22.40 hrs (IST) yesterday (Dec 28, 2003), but there were no casualties, Northeast Frontier Rail sources said.
The Dibrugarh-bound train resumed its journey after the accident at around 1:30 hrs (IST) today, with passengers of the seven derailed coaches accommodated in other compartments.
The derailment occurred near Kopili Bridge. The train had left Guwahati at 21.50 hrs (IST) for Dibrugarh.
Senior railway officials from Guwahati rushed to the accident site and arranged to help the train resume its onward journey, the sources said.
The derailment did not affect train services along the stretch, as it was a double track line and there was no other scheduled train movement in the stretch during night hours, they said.
The cause of the accident is still being ascertained.
