| | Early Lok Sabha polls good for NDA, says Advani Tuesday, December 30 2003 14:25 Hrs (IST) Mumbai:
Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today (Dec 30, 2003) said early Lok Sabha elections will be good for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), but a final decision on it would be taken after due consultations with all the constituents of the coalition.
"By and large it is correct to state that the results of the recent Assembly elections have had their effect beyond these States. The economic situation has created a feel-good factor.
"If these two reasons are combined, then it looks early elections can be good, but the pros and cons have to be seen and a decision will be taken only after due deliberations with Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) allies," Advani said after a meeting with Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray at his residence in Mumbai.
Thackeray told reporters that he agreed with Advani. "Advani's views are my views," he said.
Both leaders discussed the issue of early Lok Sabha polls. BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan was also present.
