TDP MLA abducted Telgi's men in 1998: SIT Wednesday, December 31 2003 16:19 Hrs (IST) Mumbai:
Andhra Pradesh MLA Chenna Boyana Krishna Yadav, arrested in the fake stamps scam case, had abducted two associates of prime accused Abdul Karim Telgi at Hyderabad in 1998 and released them only after Telgi paid him ransom amount, Special Investigation Team (SIT) has alleged in a chargesheet filed in a Special Court in Pune.
A micro-cassette seized during the SIT probe gives vivid details of the conversation between Telgi and C B Krishna Yadav in which the monetary deal is alleged to have taken place for release of Telgi's associates.
Neither Telgi nor Yadav have admitted to such a deal and have not come forth to reveal how much money changed hands following the abduction case, the SIT further said in the chargesheet.
The SIT chargesheet alleged that the TDP legislator used to provide protection to Telgi's illegal stamps business till 1998, and the abduction occurred after Telgi and Yadav fell apart following a monetary dispute.
The SIT started zeroing on C B Krishna Yadav after it seized the micro- cassette from Telgi's house at 3rd Pasta Lane, Colaba, South Mumbai, in January 2003. The tape revealed negotiations in which Yadav demanded Rs 5 crore to release Telgi's men, namely Abdul Wahid and Sadashiva.
Telgi ultimately succeeded to convince Yadav to release his men for Rs 5 lakh, the tape revealed.
When Yadav did not co-operate with SIT on the monetary deal aspect, he was subjected to polygraph test or lie-detector test, and later to P-300 brain fingerprinting test, the chargesheet said.
The chargesheet revealed that on or about 15th January 1998, there was a dispute over money among Shyamsunder Porasad, Raju Shrivastava and Abdul Karim Telgi, as a result of which Shyamsunder and others had kidnapped one of Telgi's associates Abdul Wahid, at the behest of C B Krishna Yadav, MLA of Hyderabad.
After about 15 days, Sadashiva, Telgi's other associate, was also kidnapped. He was made to sign a cheque of Rs 3.52 lakh on account of Venkateshwara Enterprises and subsequently, was taken to Hyderabad Assembly and placed before C B Krishna Yadav, who inquired about his stamp business, the SIT chargesheet further said.
Thereafter, he (Sadashiva) was released on an assurance of paying the negotiated ransom amount by Abdul Karim Telgi, the chargesheet added.
Yadav is the first person whom SIT subjected to scientific tests in the fake stamps case probe.
The results of the polygraph test conducted on Yadav on September 23, 2003, said, "When he (Yadav) was asked to narrate all that he knows about the incident, he narrated the incident by giving only outline, but took care to not mention in detail any incident which according to him was important and relevant."
"At times, he was withdrawn, tremors of hands, shaky voices and hostility were noticed," experts of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Bangalore concluded, adding that the test on Yadav indicated "signs of deception".
Yadav was also subjected to P-300 brain mapping test or finger printing test in which the thrust was laid on abduction of Telgi men, and demand of Rs 2 crore to release them.
The report said, "The test results are indicative of the possession of knowledge about the activities listed and direct participation of Yadav in all of these activities."
Meanwhile, the SIT also sent the micro-cassette and a voice sample of Yadav to Central Forensic Science Laboratory, New Delhi, for voice analysis.
"The specimen voice of C B Krishna Yadav is similar to specimen voice in the micro-cassette in respect of their linguistic and phonetic features, intonation pattern, general visual features in voice grams etc," SIT said quoting the laboratory report on voice analysis.
