Another feather in the cap of the bourse as the BSE-30 share sensitive index touched 6,000 - the magical figure after 46 months at mid-session for the second time in the history of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on all-round buying by foreign funds and operators.
First time the Sensex had touched a 6,000-mark at 6,005.85 on February 11, 2000 and it is just 150 points away from all-time high 6,150.69 registered on February 14, 2000.
Most of the public sector undertakings (PSUs) shares continued their northward journey and were quoted remarkably higher on sustained institutional buying, even some of them were quoted at their life-time high and as a result the sectorial BSE-PSU index also touched its all-time high of 4,112.03 before being quoted at 4,098.23 at 13.00 hrs (IST) as against yesterday's close of 3,694.19.
The BSE-30 share sensitive index opened firm at 5,944.23 as against yesterday's close of 5,915.47 and rallied further to touch a 6,000 magical figure of 6,000.13 at 12.31 hrs (IST) before being quoted at 5,990.20 at 13.00 hrs (IST).
