Friday, January 2 2004 23:02 Hrs (IST)

Islamabad: In its first reaction to India's proposal to make ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) permanent, Pakistan today (Jan 2, 2004) said that the truce that has been agreed to by the two countries would be of an indefinite duration.

Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan was asked about External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha's proposal made yesterday and its implications for Pakistan.

Khan said Pakistan's expectations was and is that the ceasefire already agreed to will be indefinite. "It is the comprehensive ceasefire. The ceasefire is holding and this is very good."

The next step, he said, should be a composite dialogue between India and Pakistan to resolve all issues including Jammu and Kashmir.
