Telgi's nephew arrested in fake stamps scam
Saturday, January 3 2004 20:33 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: Tabrez Telgi, nephew of alleged scamster Abdul Karim Telgi, and an important operative in the multi-crore fake stamps scam, was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) at Pune this evening (Jan 3, 2004).

Tabrez, absconding since last year, was the brain behind Telgi's entire operations regarding printing, packaging and marketing of fake stamps and stamp papers in Maharashtra and elsewhere.

He was responsible to collect and disburse all money generated by the business. SIT sources said that he is the second-most important accused after Telgi in the racket and his interrogation would be crucial in unearthing Telgi's links with politicians and bureaucrats.
