RRB paper leaked in Bihar; exam cancelled
Sunday, January 4 2004 16:45 Hrs (IST)

Patna: Close on the heels of leakage of Common Admission Test (CAT) papers for admission to top management institutes, Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) today (Jan 4, 2004) found question papers for recruitment of gangmen in Railways in Bihar had been let out leading to cancellation of the exams.

The examination, in which 2.76 lakh candidates were to appear at 245 centres across the State today, was cancelled after a hand-written question paper provided this morning by an informer forwarded by CBI to chairman of Railway Recruitment Board, Patna, Pramod Kumar, tallied with the original.

CBI sources said the informer had contacted the investigating agency yesterday on the leakage of papers to fill 2,000 group 'D' posts by Railway Recruitment Board.

Railway Vigilance has begun a probe into the leak, the sources said, adding that CBI was looking into the criminal aspect of it.

No arrests have been made in this connection as yet.

The cancellation triggered off protests outside several centres in the city with candidates blocking traffic, burning tyres and shouting slogans against the Railway Minister.

Pramod Kumar said fresh dates for the exams would be announced shortly.
