Jharkhand bandh: Ultras blow up bridge in Palamu

Ranchi: Extremists blew up a railway bridge in Palamu district and burnt down three engines of goods trains in Latehar district in the wee hours today (Jan 8, 2004) as the 24-hour Jharkhand bandh sponsored jointly by the banned People's War and Maoist Communist Centre began at midnight.

The railway bridge was blown up between Mohamadaganj and Hussainabad stations in the wee hours, railway sources at Garwah said.

The damage badly affected train services in that route.

In a separate incident some 50-60 armed ultras reached Chipadohar station in Latehar district and set afire three engines of different goods trains, railway sources said.
