If it is feel good, it is India 2003: Advani Saturday, January 10 2004 17:41 Hrs (IST) New Delhi:
Exuding confidence that the "feel good" factor will soon turn into "feel great" factor, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today (Jan 10, 2004) said this was a result of sound economic policies followed by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government.
"This has not happened suddenly. The feel good factor has emerged due to economic policies followed by the Government in the last few years... I have no doubt that today it is feel good, tomorrow it will become feel great," Advani said while addressing the second Pravasi Bhartiya Divas, organised by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Government.
Referring to developments in sectors like telecom, biotechnology and manufacturing, the Deputy Prime Minister said, "India has become a land of opportunities...at no other time the world was looking at India like this the way it is looking now."
Appreciating Finance Minister Jaswant Singh's recent measures, Advani said, "He (Singh) has actually fulfilled his promise that he would endeavour to enhance the Gross National Contentment rather than Gross Domestic Product.
"He has also fulfilled the promise of putting more money in the pockets of masses," the DPM said.
The world over there is respect for India and Indians, Advani said and added, with the 'Look East' approach by the world, "If it is feel good, it is India 2003."
