4 killed as LeT, Hizbul ultras clash with each other
Saturday, January 10 2004 12:17 Hrs (IST)

Jammu: A district commander and two supporters of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) and an ultra of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in clashes between the two militant outfits in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir last night (Jan 9,2004)) as a fall-out of rivalry between the two groups, official sources said today (Jan 10,2004).

The two supporters of HM, a father and son duo, were killed by LeT ultra Ashiq Ahmed in Gandoh area following a confrontation of the latter with Mohammad Ramzan, a top HM militant on Friday (Jan 9,2004), the sources said.

Apparently angered over the killings of the duo identified as Gulam Hyder and Munir Ahmed, Ramzan shot dead Ashiq after a brief gunbattle in the same area last night, they said.

The bodies of the Let militant and the HM supporters have been recovered from Tanta forest areas and sent for post mortem, they added.

Close on the heels of the inter-gang rivalry, unidentified militants of LeT gunned down district commander of HM, Gulam Mohammad Wani alias Gull in Breswana village in Doda district last night, the sources said.

Wani was an expert in IED (Improvised Explosive Devices) and was the oldest militant in the district, they said.

It may be recalled that HM militants had thrashed one LeT ultra to death over a girl, who was allegedly abducted by an LeT militant in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district on January 6.
