ULFA explodes bomb on ONGC pipeline; no damages

Guwahati: United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) today (Jan 10, 2004) exploded a bomb on an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) pipeline in upper Assam's Sibsagar district, but failed to cause any major damage to the crude oil carrying line.

Sibsagar deputy commissioner Gayatri Barua said the insurgents detonated the bomb in the wee hours at Nakatani.

The police, however, rushed to the area and brought the fire under control immediately averting major damage to the pipeline, Barua said.

Stating there was no casualty, she said, the line was restored and there was no disruption to the flow of crude.
