NDA a failure on all fronts, alleges Sonia Gandhi Monday, January 12 2004 13:17 Hrs (IST) Muzaffarnagar:
Congress President Sonia Gandhi alleged today (Jan 12, 2004) that the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government at the Centre was a failure on all fronts and had failed to live upto the expectations of the farmers.
Farmers are facing the brunt due to the anti-farmers' policies of the Government, Sonia told reporters.
She said that sugar mills owners owed crores of Rupees to sugarcane growing farmers, but the Centre had not taken any step to redress their grievances.
Sonia said instead of ameliorating the problems of the farmers, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders were busy in raising the issue of her foreign origin.
"I am more sensitive towards the problems the countrymen are facing and not bothered about the issues being raked up by the BJP," she said.
Sonia said Congress was ready for early Lok Sabha polls adding that party workers were being mobilised for this.
When asked about the formation of a possible secular alliance in view of the Parliamentary elections, she said Congress was trying to bring like-minded parties on one platform.
