Ayodhya dispute can be resolved, asserts Advani Tuesday, January 13 2004 14:33 Hrs (IST) Hyderabad:
Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) L K Advani today (Jan 13, 2004) said the Ayodhya dispute could be resolved in an amicable manner through negotiations between the two communities and asserted that construction of a Ram temple there was very much in the realm of possibility.
"If not today, at least in near future the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya is possible through a mutually agreeable settlement," Advani said while addressing a meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) top leaders, a day after the party's decision to go for early polls.
Pointing out how an atmosphere of mutual respect and a win-win situation had helped achieve a major breakthrough in the recent SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation) summit, the DPM said, "A similar approach can be adopted in finding an amicable solution to Ayodhya dispute."
Dismissing the argument that BJP's Ram temple movement had led to communal division in the country, he said, "In fact, the movement had helped in preventing such a division."
"Aaj nahi tho kal safaltha milegi (If not today, at least in near future success will come)," Advani said referring to construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya.
Later, when asked as to why BJP was raising Ayodhya issue after committing itself to common National Democratic Alliance (NDA) agenda, the party president M Venkaiah Naidu said, "This agenda is in our hearts... It is in the hearts of Indians. That is what
Advaniji has referred to."
Asserting that his party would go to polls in alliance with NDA partners, he said, "Whoever comes along with us will emerge victorious. And whoever leave us will
repent their decision."
