VHP to launch effective campaign on Ram temple issue Thursday, January 15 2004 20:50 Hrs (IST) Hyderabad:
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has decided to launch an effective campaign to influence the voters on the issue of Ram temple and Hindu agenda in the coming Lok Sabha elections, Praveen Togadia, VHP's Working President said today (Jan 15, 2004).
Addressing a press conference on the third day of the International Governing and Trust Board meeting of VHP in Hyderabad, Togadia said the Parishad would launch a house-to-house campaign to reach the voters individually and convince them to vote those candidates who support the Hindu agenda.
It has been decided to contact about two crore voters which accounts 10 per cent of total voters in the country and urge them to vote those candidates irrespective of any political parties who support the Hindu agenda and Ram temple.
Ten per cent voters may change political destiny of the Indian political parties, he claimed.
The meeting also decided to enrol twenty-five lakh Hindu youths in Bajranga Dal, he said.
Togadia parried a question of supporting the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) in the coming election and merely said, "The VHP did not support or oppose any party".
The VHP leader refused to comment on the BJP's development plank stating that "let us wait for its (BJP) election manifesto".
