| | Pak soil will not be used for terrorism: Musharraf Friday, January 16 2004 10:25 Hrs (IST) Islamabad:
Asserting that efforts to root out extremism will continue, President Pervez Musharraf yesterday (Jan 15, 2004) said Pakistan would not allow its soil to be used by terrorists.
He was speaking to top military officers at the 89th Corps Commanders Conference in Rawalpindi.
Pakistan would not allow its soil to be used for any terrorist activity, he was quoted as saying by a military statement.
Efforts to root out extremism and all kinds of terrorism from Pakistani soil would continue, he told the officers.
This was the first meeting of top commanders after the recent SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) summit and the meeting between Prime Minister
Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Musharraf.
The Conference reviewed the post-ceasefire situation along with line of control and discussed matters relating to operation and training preparations of the Army, it said.
The President also briefed the conference about the prevailing international and regional environment.
The conference was attended by corps commanders and principal staff officers of the General Headquarters.
