PWG Naxals gun down two wine vendors in Andhra Saturday, January 17 2004 11:46 Hrs (IST) Guntur:
Naxals of PWG (Peoples War Group) - CPI-ML (Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist) allegedly shot dead two wine vendors for defying their prohibition dictate at Dodileru village, a naxal strong hold in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh early today (Jan 17, 2004), police said.
About 10-armed naxals stormed the wine shop of P Koti Reddy (40), pulled him out, shot him dead and destroyed thousands of rupees worth of liquor bottles.
It may be recalled that the naxalites six months ago, had raided the wine shop, smashed wine bottles and warned him to close his business.
Then the naxals marched to the house of D Subbarao (44) another liquor vendor and gunned him down. Subbarao ran a hotel also.
As the approach road to the village were heavily mined, the police have not reached the village even eight hours after the double murder.
It may be recalled that naxals had imposed prohibition in the district and came down heavily on wine shops.
They raided several liquor shops and smashed bottles. Naxals have killed four persons in the district since January 1 this year.
