India, Pak not to attack each other through media Monday, January 19 2004 14:32 Hrs (IST) Islamabad:
In a bid to continue the process of a composite dialogue in a "positive way", India and Pakistan have reached an understanding not to make statements against each other through the media.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri said that the understanding have been reached between him and his Indian counterpart Yashwant Sinha.
Official media also quoted him as saying at a public meeting in his constituency in Kasur during the weekend that the sincere implementation of South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) agreement, signed during the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation) Summit would usher a new era of prosperity for the people of the two countries.
Kasuri also criticised Opposition parties' attempt to disrupt President Pervez Musharraf's speech in Parliament on Jan 17.
"Opposition should realise the sensitive situation and avoid such behaviour, which damaged the national interest," he said.
