SC gives Jaya 2 weeks to respond to K'taka's plea
Monday, January 19 2004 11:30 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today (Jan 19, 2004) granted two-week time to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to respond to Karnataka Government's application saying it would provide adequate security to her and ensure free and fair trial in two disproportionate assets cases against her.

The apex court on November 18 last year had directed transfer of the cases against her from Chennai to Bangalore in the interest of justice and for a fair trial. Jayalalithaa had moved an application seeking transfer of the trial from Bangalore to any other neighbouring State.
