15 injured in major fire in Bhiwandi gas godown

Thane: At least 15 people were injured in a major fire that broke out in a godown at Bhiwandi, near Thane tonight (Jan 20, 2004).

The fire broke out at 19.45 hrs (IST) due to a short circuit in Nagina Masjid and spread to nearby godown where the gas cylinders were stored, fire brigade sources said.

Fire tenders from Thane, Kalyan and Bhiwandi were immediately pressed into service to control the flames, they said.

The injured have been hospitalised, they added.
