Vajpayee asks BJP to gear for Lok Sabha polls
Wednesday, January 21 2004 16:02 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today (Jan 21, 2004) asked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to gear itself up for the Lok Sabha elections and urged the party-ruled States to accelerate developmental activities.

At a meeting with BJP Chief Ministers from seven States at his residence, Vajpayee said the developmental activities in these States should reach the grass-root level, party sources said.

The meeting reviewed the party's poll preparations in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Goa and Arunachal Pradesh and the need to take steps which would enhance the "feel-good factor", the sources said.

The BJP Chief Ministers will also have a meeting with party president M Venkaiah Naidu.
