India placed high in corrupt nations' list: Fernandes

Mysore: Expressing concern over corruption levels in the country, Defence Minister George Fernandes today (Jan 22, 2004) said India figured high in the list of most corrupt nations in the world.

In his speech after laying the foundation stone for Ghanalingi Shivayogi complex of Suttur Math in Mysore, he asked Government employees to discharge their responsibilities with honesty and integrity.

Noting that there were more than two crore Government employees in the country, he asked them to take a pledge to serve the people with honesty and integrity.

Union Minister of State for Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs V Srinivas Prasad hailed the math for its contribution not only in spiritualism but also in the field of education.
