Sikkim for simultaneous Lok Sabha, Assembly polls
Thursday, January 22 2004 11:25 Hrs (IST)

Gangtok: Sikkim Government has decided to go for simultaneous polls to the Lok Sabha and the State Assembly.

The decision was taken both by the Central executive committee of the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) and its legislature party at separate meetings held in Gangtok during the past two days, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling's political advisor B B Gooroong told reporters today (Jan 22, 2004).

As per the decision, a three-day special session of the State Assembly would be convened on February 4 to 6 to pass the vote on account, he said.

The State Government would approach the CEC in a day or two and after getting his approval the Cabinet would write to the Governor seeking dissolution of the House.
