India is shining, but Sonia is whining: BJP Sunday, January 25 2004 12:53 Hrs (IST) Bangalore:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Venkaiah Naidu today (Jan 25, 2004) had a dig at the Congress for "looking to" Priyanka Vadra and Rahul Gandhi, saying the Congress was worried that it did not have a leader.
"Congress is worried. They do not have a leader. They are now looking to children," he said, without naming Priyanka and Rahul, who the Congress on Jan 22 acknowledged were primary members of the party.
"We can understand their plight. Anyway, we wish them the best of luck," he said as he launched the party's "Atal Sandesh Abhiyan" to create awareness about the Vajpayee Government's achievements.
The question, he said, was "who can lead the country and who can bring prosperity".
Lashing out at Congress president Sonia Gandhi for attacking the "India Shining" message, Naidu said she should go to people to understand that they were happy. "You (Gandhi) are not happy but India is happy."
"India is shining. You are whining. What can we do madam," he asked Gandhi who had attacked the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government's "India Shining" media blitz at a panchayatraj convention in Karnataka's Dharwad district, accusing it of misleading the masses.
Gandhi was questioning as to where India was shining, he said, adding, "Those who have a vision and foresight can see development." India was shining and there was a "feel-good factor" but for her it was "feel-bad factor".
